This week in teaching, I’ve been fixated on making sure my students get plenty of rhythm practice. I have a number of students who are just starting to see eighth notes in their music, so I created a set of drills to use with them. The drills are in either 4/4 or 3/4 time and include the following types of notes and rests:
- whole notes
- half notes
- dotted half notes
- quarter notes
- 8th notes
- quarter rests
- half rests
- whole rests
- simple syncopation (not a note or rest, I know, but wanted to alert you to its inclusion).
I created this file through a combo of Finale and Microsoft Word. As always, you can download the pdf version through the For Teacher’s tab on my website. Hope you and your students enjoy!
Have a great weekend!
